This summer the initials NL will stand for Neverland as Disney shoots scenes for the upcoming movie Peter Pan and Wendy, and the local tourism industry is buzzing with anticipation.
One of the film locations is Bonavista.
Mayor John Norman says the Bonavista Peninsula is very much tied to the tourism sector, and he thinks the arrival of Disney production crews will be a big boost.
He has been speaking with accommodation owners who tell him “everything is booked” and it is “quite likely” that a lot of people will be staying in the region.
Norman believes the attention created by the area’s new UNESCO Global Geo Park designation was a factor in bringing filming to the area.
