Several inmates and staff at the Atlantic Institution in New Brunswick have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Correctional Service Canada, three inmates and seven staff have tested positive for the virus.
While specifics about the cases are unknown, the maximum security facility houses many offenders from this province.
They say the situation is being closely monitored and measures are in place to mitigate the spread of the virus.
COVID testing is being provided to staff and inmates, with employees being required to take a rapid test and provide a negative result before entering.
They say nearly 76 per cent of all inmates at the facility are fully vaccinated, and booster shots are being offered to those who received their second dose over five months ago.
