The brazen theft of a trailer was thwarted within minutes of the crime this week, thanks to the quick actions of its owner and the police.
The trailer was stolen early Wednesday afternoon in Heart’s Content, and was immediately reported to Harbour Grace RCMP.
Within minutes, an officer on patrol in Carbonear passed a vehicle towing the trailer in question, and pulled them over on Columbus Drive, near the intersection of Veteran’s Memorial Highway and Cathedral Street.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and will appear in court in October to face a single charge of theft over $5,000.
The trailer, valued at about $7,000, was returned to its rightful owner.
