A longtime serial sex offender will be tried in Supreme Court on new charges of committing indecent acts at HMP.
Thirty-four-year-old Stephen Hopkins has been a resident there for the past five years.
During that time he’s repeatedly been charged with committing indecent acts in front of guards, staff and other prisoners.
He was first charged in 2023, then in the summer of 2024 and in January of this year.
Those incidents were making their way through the courts when the most recent charges were laid dating back to July.
Hopkins is serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2020, and has been deemed a long-term offender.
He appeared by video from HMP today, waiving his right to a bail hearing with plans to once again represent himself.
Hopkins is expected to be formally arraigned and enter pleas in the new year.
