Closing submissions will be heard tomorrow in the trial of 27-year-old Justin Wiseman, who burned down a Mount Pearl home last March after a standoff with police.
Wiseman pleaded guilty to the arson, but is standing trial on a number of other charges, including a charge of armed robbery at a Marie’s Mini Mart.
During Trial, the Crown called a number of witnesses including police investigators, and Kimberley Mulrooney, was working the cash at the Moores Drive Marie’s Mini Mart Location on the morning of March 13, 2018. That’s the day of the standoff.
Mulrooney says a masked man with a tattoo over his right eye entered the store with a long knife and made off with over $400 and cigarettes.
Mulrooney testified the next day she had seen a photo of Wiseman in the media in connection to the standoff, and noticed that same tattoo over Wiseman’s right eye.
Testimony has now concluded with closing submissions tomorrow. A hearing has been set for September to hear the facts in relation to the arson.
