The leader of the NL Alliance says that education will be one of the party’s priorities if elected to government.
Graydon Pelley, a former teacher himself, says that his party wants to look at the recommendations made by the Premier’s Task Force on Improving Educational Outcomes, which were implemented last year in the provincial government’s Education Action Plan.
One of the aspects he wants to look at is is student-teacher allocations.
Pelley says the education system needs to look at the needs of the students instead of the numbers.
He says that times have changed and that issues he dealt with in Junior High and High School are now occurring in elementary school. He says we need to change our policies to better help students and teachers.
