Metro police chased a school bus yesterday afternoon after a man stole the bus in Conception Bay South and hit the highway.

The chase ended at the entrance to Weir’s Construction on the Manuels Access as a number of RNC officers surrounded the bus. Video from the scene shows a flat tire on the driver’s side.

The stolen bus was first spotted at about 3:30, the driver was arrested at about 4:00.

A 40-year-old man, who had several warrants out against him, was arrested at the scene. The suspect will be charged with auto theft, flight from police and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Lockup for a court appearance this morning.

Traffic in the area was delayed for quite some time as the bus had to be towed from the scene.
