People in Labrador say it was crazy rainfall over the weekend as a portion of Route 510, the Trans-Labrador Highway, washed away.
A large swath of pavement, about 18 km from the Churchill River, is missing this morning. That cuts the flow of traffic between southeastern Labrador and the rest of the Big Land, including Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Rodney Barney, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says the Cartwright area got almost 100 mm on the weekend while central Labrador got about 50 mm.
Crews from the Department of Transportation and Works are on the scene but there is no timeline as to when temporary repairs will be made.
