Firefighters made quick work of a blaze at a home on Queen’s Road early this morning.
Emergency crews from three fire stations arrived shortly after 6 a.m. and found fire in one room of the attached multi-unit home. Roger Hounsell, Acting Platoon Chief with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, says damage was limited to the kitchen of one of the units, with some smoke and water damage to other parts of the home.
One resident was assessed by paramedics on the scene and taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. Several cats were also rescued, including one who needed to receive oxygen from firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
