A long-time proponent of a fixed link between Newfoundland and Labrador is hopeful the project will finally come to fruition.
The federal Liberals indicated during the election campaign that it would support a fixed link between Newfoundland and the mainland, but few details were provided.
The Liberal government has since outlined its desire to support so-called “nation-building” projects as part of a campaign to stimulate the economy.
Businessman and former Liberal MHA Danny Dumaresque says now is the time, but he cautions, it has to be done right.
He says the next step is to define the project and issue a RFP for people who build tunnels to cost the project, instead of “wasting money” on more studies.
