It was a windy one for the 20th annual Cape to Cabot race on Sunday, but that didn’t stop the runners who took on the challenging trek from the most easterly point in North America to the top of Signal Hill.
In his first Cape to Cabot, Andrew Peverill, with a time of 1:10.19, was the first male to cross the line while Katheryn Cochrane at 1:22.42 was the first female to break the tape.
Peverill says the most difficult part of the race was the final stretch.
“The first hill is pretty nasty, but I don’t think anything takes Signal Hill.”
He says as soon as you get on the hill, you start questioning whether you can finish it.
Cochrane, who was 9th overall, says the toughest part for her was closer to the middle of the route.
“The toughest part is the downhill coming through Shea Heights because you feel like your legs are about to explode,” Cochrane said.
