Two people have been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in St. John’s.
Emergency crews responded to Ropewalk Lane shortly before 10 p.m., when a pickup truck struck one of the pedestrians who was walking on the side of the road.
Reports from the scene indicate the man was thrown into a woman walking alongside him.

Both were taken to hospital with injuries that appeared to be not life-threatening.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary closed a portion of Ropewalk Lane between Empire Avenue and Pennywell Road as they conducted their investigation.
This collision comes just two days after four pedestrians were injured—two seriously—in three separate incidents in Mount Pearl, Paradise and the Goulds.

Meanwhile, the RNC is investigating a recent fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision in the capital city.
A 63-year-old man passed away from complications due to injuries sustained on Elizabeth Avenue in the area of Memorial University on January 4.
