Premier Dwight Ball has officially requested for assistance from the Federal Government to provide relief to areas of Newfoundland and Labrador affected by severe winter weather.
After an assessment of the aftermath of the severe weather and consultation with St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen, Premier Ball says they reached out and requested support for the province.

He says bringing groups like the Canadian Armed Forces in will bring relief to everyone but it will especially provide comfort and relief to groups like seniors and persons with disabilities.
Premier Ball emphasizes that ensuring safety before students go back to school and people head back to work is their main concern.
Having the resources lined up to take on a large volume of traffic on the road networks is also a concern, and something that the federal government could help with, according to Ball.
The premier does not give a timeline on when boots will be on the ground in the province but he ensures the province will be “back in shape” soon.
Have been speaking with @DwightBallNL and @SeamusORegan on NL storm. Premier Ball has identified some areas where federal resources can be of assistance. We are ready to step up and will provide all possible help.
