They say the snow is always clearer on the other side.
A woman who lives in Southlands is trying to get a movement going have their populous area taken away from St. John’s and given to the City of Mount Pearl.
A Facebook post by Darlene Haas took off yesterday as like-minded residents say they are more a part of Mount Pearl than St. John’s. Haas says they go to school in Mount Pearl, use the recreation facilities there and shop there. They do not feel a part of St. John’s and some question the quality of municipal services provided by the capital city.
Southlands was given to St. John’s about 30 years ago when the provincial government realigned municipal boundaries on the northeast Avalon.
She says there will be a push to have a public meeting in the future to put some faces to the names.
