The clean up following Snowmageddon has pushed the city’s snow clearing budget by up to $5-million over the annual $17.5 million dollar allotment.
The capital city released the numbers this morning.
It includes overtime, contracted snow removal, fleet expenses, fuel and other costs.
Mayor Danny Breen cautions it’s hard to say what the final numbers will look like given that we still have a lot of winter left. The city is looking into how much it can recover from the federal government’s disaster relief assistance program.
Breen says because they are still early in their fiscal year, they have time to develop what he calls “a solid plan” to address the cost overrun.
