The proposed hotel on top of the AP Parking Garage in Downtown St. John’s may be one step closer to being approved today.
At tonight’s city council meeting, council will decide whether or not to adopt the amended regulations needed for the proposal to move ahead, once they receive a provincial release.
If approved, a public hearing on the amendments will be scheduled for March 11.
There has been a divided public opinion on the project. Some like the design and the proposed facelift to what many have said is one of the ugliest buildings in the city. Others have argued the design does not fit in with the character in the area, and the height increase to 12 storeys would be too much.
City council is set to vote whether or not the project will move on to the next stage at city hall this evening. VOCM News will be there.
