The Wet’suwet’en pipeline protest made its way to Newfoundland and Labrador today as about 25 protesters moved into MP Seamus O’Regan’s St. John’s headquarters.
Wearing t-shirts declaring “reconciliation is dead,” the demonstrators see many similarities between the pipeline and Muskrat Falls. They brought with them about 100 feet of plastic piping to assemble a “pipeline” on the office floor.
They say the “pipeline” is a little rickety but will hold. MP O’Regan not here today pic.twitter.com/kedd4N3CdA

Many in other parts of the country have been arrested, but spokesperson Jude Benoit says they don’t want to put anyone in harm’s way. They’re critical of the way governments and police have handled the protests on the mainland.
They say police try to take people’s phones because they don’t want the country to see the brutality going on. If that happens at this protest, Benoit wants everyone to film as much as possible.
