The man behind the Maple Leaf Gardens sex abuse scandal is dead.
Gordon Stuckless, originally from Newfoundland, worked as an equipment manager through the 70s and 80s at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. He pleaded guilty in 1997 to sex assaults on 24 boys.
He served four years in jail and was freed on statutory release in 2001.
He was handed another 6.5-year sentence in 2016 in connection with the sexual abuse of 18 boys. He was released to a half-way house in December.
Reports out of Toronto indicate that his lawyer confirmed Stuckless suffered a brain hemorrhage on Tuesday and passed away in hospital in Hamilton Ontario on Thursday night.
