Excessive speeding continues to be a problem on this province’s roads, and police are cautioning drivers that a heavy foot could mean losing your vehicle, or worse.
Two drivers lost their licences and vehicles after being pulled over by police for breaking the speed limit by over 50 km/h.
In the first incident, a new driver was clocked going 145 km/h in a 90 zone near Frenchman’s Cove. The 17-year-old was issued a speeding ticket and a licence suspension, and the vehicle they were driving was impounded.
Then, on Tuesday, the radar read 151 km/h for another driver on Veterans Memorial Highway. The 22-year-old Carbonear man was handed a speeding ticket, lost his licence for seven days, and will have to collect his vehicle from the impound lot.
