A local political blogger is calling the Liberal leadership campaign a low-key affair, and he doesn’t expect things to heat up before the leadership is decided August 3rd.
Des Sullivan, also known as Uncle Gnarley, has written posts on the campaigns of both candidates. You can read Sullivan’s piece on John Abbott here, and the one on Andrew Furey here.
He says with the support of the entire Liberal cabinet, Andrew Furey is the presumptive front runner.
As a result, Sullivan says, Furey’s policy statements have been “long on rhetoric and short on policy,” while John Abbott, a long-time senior bureaucrat, is a “policy wonk”.
Sullivan says both sides are being very careful, but doing so will not favour Abbott. He says the pressure is now on Furey not to make a major misstep before the leadership vote.
