He’s not tipping his hand, but Premier Tony Wakeham says government remains committed to meeting the promises made in the PC Blue Book as budget preparations continue.
The federal government is expected to provide a “spring economic update” April 28.
Many provincial governments usually wait for the federal budget before tabling their own fiscal blueprint, but the premier told VOCM Open Line guest host Darrin Bent that they’re moving ahead on their own timeline.
Wakeham says the budget will “reflect the commitments that we made when we were running for office.” However, whether all those commitments will be met in this budget remains to be seen. “We were elected for a four-year mandate,” says Wakeham, “and we intend to follow through on our Blue Book commitment(s).”
The date for the delivery of the provincial government’s first budget is expected to be announced next week.
