Air Canada is temporarily suspending flights from Toronto and Montreal to JFK in New York as a way to mitigate rising jet fuel costs.
The carrier is suspending three flights from Toronto and one flight from Montreal to JFK starting June 1st, and is not expected to resume service until October 25th.
Service to LaGuardia and Newark will not be affected.
Customers with travel already booked are being contacted by the airline to make alternate travel arrangements.
The price of jet fuel has nearly doubled since the U.S. and Israel began their attacks on Iran six weeks ago.
In the meantime, concerns are rising in Europe where carriers are facing diminished jet fuel supply thanks to blocks in the Strait of Hormuz.
