RNC confirm the death of a man on Craigmillar Avenue on the weekend was a homicide.

The body of 47-year-old James Cody of Paradise was discovered lying in the middle of the road around 4 a.m. Sunday morning after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

Police say Cody died from gunshot wounds.

A red Jeep Cherokee, belonging to Cody, was also discovered at the scene.

Superintendent Tom Warren says suspects have been identified, but no arrests have yet been made.

He told reporters today that the shooting was not a random act, and the parties are known to each other.
