Another local charity is calling for understanding after a large number of unusable donations were dropped off at their office over the weekend.
The Single Parent Association of Newfoundland and Labrador shared images of objects left in front of their doors—including a futon, a car seat, and several filled garbage bags. The association believes it was done deliberately when its office was closed.
SPAN says donations for its outlet have been temporarily put on hold, but it has never accepted donations of large furniture items or household appliances.
Habitat for Humanity posted a similar call last week, after several donations were left outside its facility, and had to be shipped to the dump at the charity’s expense.
SPAN says its outlet is currently being used for food storage to provide hampers to single-parent families. It encourages anyone looking to offer support to consider donating food items or money instead.
However, it encourages anyone looking to donate, to contact their office directly at 738-3401.
