We’re only a few weeks away from sending children back to school but the education critic says parents don’t have any more information today than they did when schools closed in mid-March.
Craig Pardy, the MHA for Bonavista, says it’s clear that more resources are required in order for schools to meet expectations and guidelines, but he doesn’t see any examples of that actually happening.
He believes that going back to the status quo will not amount to a successful re-entry plan.

Pardy, a teacher and administrator for the past 16 years, echoes the concerns of many in the school system when he points out that a lot of the COVID-19 symptoms are always present in a school.
He wants to know details of the screening process such as who will administer and oversee it.
Pardy also wonders if 72 children will still be the acceptable number on a school bus as those details have yet to be made public.

Minister of Health John Haggie says the question on buses will be addressed in the fall.
Haggie says there is no plan released yet but for him, a safe school is the result of a conscientious community.
