Wal-Mart this week became one of the first large retailers to make mask-wearing mandatory but the conduct of one customer yesterday left many shaking their heads.
To assist with the transition into the new policy, employees are temporarily offering disposable masks to customers without one of their own. However, customers will be expected to bring their own as of next week.
Ashley Smith of Torbay was preparing to enter Wal-Mart with her husband yesterday when they noticed a woman just behind them being offered a mask by an employee. Ashley says she crumpled it up, then spat in the direction of the employee.
They were appalled by her actions, but she told VOCM Open Line with Tim Powers that they have seen people react similarly in the past.
Her husband told the customer that she was very rude. He went inside to bring the matter to the attention of a supervisor.
