Seventy substitute teachers will be hired on full-time term contracts to help alleviate the burden in the province’s school system caused by COVID-19.
That’s according to newly-appointed Education Minister Tom Osborne who made the announcement this morning on VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly.
They’ll continue to monitor the situation and if needed, will look at hiring more resources.

He says more custodians will also be hired.
He says all custodians will be assigned full-time from five to seven hours, with more custodians to be hired on a full-time basis.
The announcement comes following meetings this morning with the school board, government, union, and opposition representatives.
