The President of the NLTA was recently honoured at Government House for helping to save the lives of a mother and son five years ago.
Dean Ingram came upon an accident scene in April of 2015 before emergency personnel had arrived.
The car was on fire and immediate action had to be taken to save the lives of Amanda Drover and her son Brody, who were trapped inside.
Ingram instructed bystanders to remove Brody while he helped to get Amanda out of the car.
Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote says Ingram coordinated the rescue until emergency responders arrived by helping others locate fire extinguishers and rerouting traffic around the scene.
Ingram was presented with the Newfoundland and Labrador Bravery Award by Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott. Amanda and Brody were also there to offer their thanks.
