More questions are being raised about Premier Andrew Furey’s plans to implement $25 a day daycare in the province.
Robyn LeGrow is the executive director of the Jimmy Pratt Foundation, which is dedicated to advancing the health, education, and security of children.
The provincial government is hiring higher-level Early Childhood Educators to help in the classroom as the new school year gets underway.
LeGrow says that will make it even tougher for daycare operators to attract qualified ECEs.
She says workers who are normally paid just above minimum wage will now be getting paid salaries and benefits. She wants to know how $25 a day daycare will be achieved under the current system.
