The Shipwreck Preservation Society has released 3-D images of two cannons lying on the bottom near Bauline as part of its efforts to document local marine history hidden under the waves.
The two cannons, as well as the wreck of the schooner Ellenora Spurvey in Conception Harbour, can now be explored from the safety of your laptop or smartphone thanks to the efforts of diver Neil Burgess.

Burgess takes a series of photos back and forth over the top of the object, that he downloads into a photogrammetry program that will turn the photos into a 3-D model of the object that you can spin around and zoom in on.
As for the origin of the two cannons outside Bauline, Burgess can’t say for certain as the saltwater and sea creatures have obscured their identifying marks.
He speculates they may have been jettisoned after the ship they were on ran aground on a nearby rock.
