Some more detail today for parents and guardians should a child fall ill in the coming school year.
Parents have been asking what will happen if their child gets sick, as many children often do once school starts.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald outlined the procedure at today’s provincial COVID-19 update.
She says if a child gets sick, they will be immediately isolated from other students and staff, and parents will be contacted to pick them up. Once at home, 811 should be called for appropriate follow-up.
A COVID test will be administered if it is deemed necessary and, if positive, the student will have to self-isolate at home until the symptoms are resolved.
