Safety experts say it’s important not only for drivers to know the Highway Traffic Act but pedestrians as well.
The big yellow machines are back on the roads for the first time in six months and kids and parents are walking to and from school.
Jim Brazil of Safety NL says it’s important that drivers and pedestrians be engaged in the task at hand and not be paying attention to other things such as cell phones.
He says people should walk facing traffic with no more than two abreast.
He says if you have three or four buddies walking side-by-side, you’re going to end up with one or two of them on the pavement and in traffic.
