The Carpenters Union isn’t happy with changes in how the Labour Relations Board does business.
The board sent information on the identities of workers at Grieg in Marystown who were interested in forming a union to the company, a no-no in labour circles.
The board has told union leaders that it will no longer accept electronic filing of information and will only accept information in physical paper format.
Mike Williams, president of the NL Carpenters Union Local 579, says it’s time for the board to develop up-to-date online platforms instead of going backwards.
He wants government to establish an independent review of the board and labour relations legislation.
