Two women from Marystown will have to answer to a long list of charges following an incident involving alcohol and a stolen vehicle on the Burin Peninsula.
RCMP officers were investigating the theft of a vehicle from a residence in Burin yesterday morning when they received a report that the car in question was being driven dangerously in the parking lot of the Marystown Mall.
Police eventually located the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
26-year-old Kandis Stoddard of Marystown was arrested and charged with several offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, refusing to provide breath samples, and dangerous driving. Additional charges were laid under the highway traffic act and liquor control act.
The passenger, 21-year-old Kendra Coombs, was also arrested on charges of theft of a motor vehicle and possessing property obtained by crime.
Stoddard was remanded into custody until her next court appearance in October.
