This has been a tremendous summer for golf right across the country and Newfoundland and Labrador is no exception.
The Executive Director of Golf NL says the province has seen a 25 to 28 per cent increase in participation in golf this summer.
Greg Hillier says COVID-19 causing people to seek outdoor activities, coupled with favourable weather conditions, brought more people to the sport.
He says they’re seeing plenty of new golfers and more women and young people taking to the links.
Hillier says equipment suppliers reported that all their introductory golf packages were sold out by the latter part of June. “Suppliers couldn’t keep them on the shelves.”
