The owner of the Newfoundland Growlers is turning heads with his conceptual plans for Mile One Centre in St. John’s.

Dean MacDonald of Deacon Sports and Entertainment would love to take Mile One off the city’s hands, but there is no indication that the city is going to unload the facility. It costs taxpayers millions of dollars to subsidize.

MacDonald would expand Mile One and add a two-storey sports bar, which would be open daily, as well as create street-level access. He would also add a large recording studio for local musicians.

MacDonald’s plans also call for the addition of two theatres, including one for the growing gaming activity e-sports.
