Parks Canada’s moose population reduction program opens in Gros Morne National Park this weekend.
There are three separate hunting zones in the park with different opening dates in each zone.
A fourth zone will remain closed to hunting activity.
Hunting in Zone 1 opens today and runs through to January 24th. The next two zones open October 17th and November 14th respectively.
The moose management program was put in place in 2011 to help protect park habitat and overgrazing by a growing moose population.
