A striking Dominion worker has made a heartfelt plea for help after nearly two months on the picket line.
Kim Snow, a single mother of three, is on the picket line in Bay Roberts and broke down on Open Line with Paddy Daly describing how she’s struggling to make ends meet.
She normally works 20 to 23 hours a week and gets a subsidy from social services to help pay her living expenses, even though she is available to work full-time.
Because she’s on strike, social services cannot provide the subsidy, by law. Her power is about to be disconnected, her rent is two months overdue and she doesn’t know where to turn.
She sent a direct message to Galen Weston of Loblaw and is hoping for a “change of heart” to help out Dominion workers.
Over 1400 Dominion workers at 11 stores across the province went out on strike in mid-August after rejecting the company’s latest offer.
