An Anglican Bishop who was on leave from the Anglican ministry and who was outspoken on many issues including as a supporter of same-sex marriage has passed away.
Archdeacon Sam Rose says it is with a heavy heart that they announce the passing of the Right Reverend Dr. Geoffrey Peddle yesterday.
Peddle was the Bishop of the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador. He was in the ordained ministry for 33 years.
2020 was an emotional year for Peddle.
He lost his father in August, and then just days later he welcomed his first grandchild into the world. It wasn’t long after that when Peddle made the decision to retire. He would have finished up at the end of the year.
Peddle reflected upon a life in the church while speaking with VOCM News last month. He said that he was proud of the spirit, love, and “general goodness” of people that he witnessed over the course of his career.
