An announcement regarding what the holiday season will look like in the province this year is still a few weeks away.
During yesterday’s COVID-19 briefing, Premier Andrew Furey noted that public health officials are working diligently to craft a holiday plan, but we are still too far away to make decisions with any degree of certainty.
Furey says it’ll be early to mid-November before the province can make any sort of announcement on the issue.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says she has a “Christmas squad” on her team who are looking at all options for the holidays, including decisions on parties and family visits.
She echoes the Premier’s sentiments about it being too early for any decisions yet, saying a “week in COVID time is a year at any other time.”
