The Innu Nation says the province is discriminating against them for refusing to provide access to adult basic education programs in Natuashish.
PC Indigenous affairs critic Lela Evans says the Innu Nation has been turned down repeatedly over the last four years.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Lisa Dempster says she only recently became aware of the request by the Innu Nation, adding it partially falls under another department.
She said she’ll work with Immigration, Skills, and Labour to provide whatever help she can toward granting the Innu request.
Evans says residents of Natuashish are missing out on job opportunities due to the lack of adult basic education in the community.
