There has been an outpouring of generosity to support Daffodil Place, a facility which takes some of the strain off cancer patients who have to visit St. John’s for treatment.
The 24-hour “One Night Stand” Radiothon on VOCM raised $119,000 last year so the Canadian Cancer Society set the bar a little higher at $125,000.
Society official Al Pelley gave the grand total on VOCM with host Greg Smith just after the 8:00 news with a tally of $252,000.
That amount does not include a brand new car donated by the Capital Auto Group to help with their shuttle service as the number of rides has increased.
You can only take two people who are in the same bubble at one time, so the number of rides is up he says. The value of the car is $35,000-$38,000.
