Dozens of residents marched through the battery yesterday afternoon to oppose a luxury home development on Signal Hill.
Organizers say nearly 1.8 acres known as Limeville is at risk of becoming a major housing development and say the protest was aimed at “preserving the neighbourhood.”
The site has already drawn the ire of former Deputy Mayor and area MHA Sheilagh O’Leary and has a petition with over 5,000 signatures.
Protesters say they’re hoping to preserve it’s greenspace on Signal Hill, which was owned by Penny Alderdice, who passed away last year.
Initially, Alderdice wanted the property to serve a community purpose.
