Two men have been charged in connection with a recent break and enter at a Burin Peninsula gas station.
The RCMP launched an investigation after cigarettes and cash were stolen from the Midway Lounge and Gas Bar on November 13.
Three days later, officers searched two homes and a vehicle in Marystown. Inside, they found some of the stolen merchandise as well as tools which police say could be used in a break and enter.
John Joseph Francis and Jerome Michael Smith—both of Marystown—were arrested and charges for several offenses including break and enter, disguise with intent, and mischief over $5,000.
Francis was also charged for breaching a court order.
Two other Marystown residents—a 41-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman—were charged with possessing stolen property.
Anyone with information, or who may know the whereabouts of the remaining stolen property, is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
