The town of Grand Bank reported one new case of COVID-19 yesterday, a man over the age of 70 who is a tenant at Blue Crest Cottages. The community now has six active cases that are all related.
Town officials say that contact tracing and testing are still ongoing, and in the meantime, they are encouraging residents to wear a mask, keep physically distant, and to stay away from crowds or public events.
Community services are now in place at the retirement home to support all tenants in isolation, including two LPNs who will be working shifts to provide daily nursing oversight and to make sure tenants have their needs met.
Eastern Health has contracted a home care agency to provide care to tenants who need additional support at this time. The home care workers will be fully equipped with PPE. Eastern Health will also be providing ongoing education and support from the Infection and Prevention Control Team.
The town is reminding the public to call the Public Health office at 709-832-1602 if they have any questions or concerns or to call 811 if anyone has symptoms of COVID-19.
