Thousands of dollars have been raised in Newfoundland and Labrador for the people of Honduras and Guatemala, devastated by two powerful hurricanes.
Ingrid Sierra-Quilty of Paradise launched the awareness and fundraising campaigns after Hurricane Eta slammed into her native Honduras early this month.
Two weeks later, the Central American nation was hit again by Hurricane Iota, the strongest Atlantic hurricane recorded this year, packing winds of up to 257 km/h.
Sierra-Quilty launched the campaign in support of Disaster Aid Canada.
The Canadian Red Cross has also deployed its emergency health clinic to Honduras.
