A 39-year-old man has been arrested for impaired driving after a single vehicle crash on the Bonavista Peninsula Highway Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 2:00 in the morning near Georges Brook.
Clarenville RCMP say the driver had left the scene, but was located a short distance away showing what officers said were “clear signs of impairment.”
The driver resisted the officers’ attempts to take him into custody, but he was eventually arrested. A search of his vehicle turned up a quantity of improperly stored cannabis.
Breath samples collected at the detachment were over the legal limit.
He was charged with impaired driving, resisting arrest, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He’s scheduled to appear in court in June.
