Husky is responding to recent layoffs at the Argentia work site, and outlining the scope of work that will be maintained following a major funding announcement last week.
The company says the job losses at Argentia affect non-union workers at the concrete gravity structure and reflect the changing labour needs of the project based on its cycle.
The company announced in October that major construction would be suspended for another year and they are now completing a controlled ramp down of the site.
Husky says the $41.5-million in government spending announced last week under the Oil and Gas Industry Assistance Fund will create or maintain 331 jobs in this province.
It includes completion of the living quarters and other topsides equipment including life boat stations, flare boom and helideck scopes and maintenance and preservation works at Argentia as well as continued engineering and project management support.
The partners in the West White Rose project are also contributing $41.5-million.
