The Miawpukek First Nation has rolled out a series of measures to help fend off the potential spread of COVID-19 after the town of Harbour Breton reported two confirmed cases.
While there have been no confirmed cases in Conne River to date, the council decided to take precaution to support their neighbouring communities.
They’re asking anyone feeling unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms to stay home. As well, they’re encouraging everyone to refrain from hosting parties or gatherings over the holidays.
Chief Misel Joe offered well-wishes to those affected for a speedy recovery. He states that the days ahead may be filled with stress and uncertainty, but encourages everyone to show support as “no community is ‘immune’ from this virus.”
