It may not be the size that residents were hoping for, but a Christmas tree has been erected in one of the roundabouts in Galway.
Photos posted to social media show that a small, wooden tree, complete with bulbs and lights, has been placed in the centre of the roundabout.
On it is a note reading “approved by the city of St. John’s.”
Last week, developer Danny Williams called out the city for not allowing him to light up his 30-foot tree, citing traffic concerns. He could have the tree there unlit, but would need to purchase a $2-million insurance policy.
In the end, the tree was donated to the City of Mount Pearl.
